Cardboard is the highest value grade of paper, as its durability means long paper fibers and has the highest recycling rate of paper products. Since most cardboard is used for shipping, you’ll want to remove any shipping materials such as packing peanuts, plastic bags and bubble wrap. We recycle old corrugated cardboard – OCC, corrugated cardboard, paperboard (used for cereal boxes), chipboard (used for shoeboxes) and cartons. We prefer flattened boxes, free of food-soiled and contamination (such as pizza boxes). Always follow the 4 Prep Step >> Empty. Clean. Dry. Loose. Recycling Fact: Recycling 1 ton of cardboard could eliminate 9 cubic yards of landfill space.
